Day By Day ( Itinerary)

DAY 1: Umbwe Gate  to Umbwe Camp

Depart from Moshi early and drive to the Umbwe Gate (1,600 meters). Your journey begins with a steep ascent through dense rainforest, providing an immediate sense of the route’s ruggedness. Reach Umbwe Camp, your first campsite, surrounded by the sounds of the forest.

DAY 2: Umbwe Camp to Barranco Camp

Continue your ascent through the forest before emerging onto a ridge with panoramic views. The terrain becomes steeper as you approach Barranco Camp, nestled in a scenic valley below the Barranco Wall.

DAY 3: Acclimatization Day at Barranco Camp

Spend a day at Barranco Camp to acclimatize and rest. You can embark on short hikes to explore the surrounding areas, including the Barranco Wall, to further prepare for the challenges ahead.

DAY 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Climb the iconic Barranco Wall, a manageable scramble. Enjoy breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro’s southern glaciers before descending to Karanga Camp, perched on a rocky ridge.

DAY 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

The trek leads through the alpine desert landscape as you ascend to Barafu Camp. The scenery transforms into a barren, lunar-like environment with captivating views of the summit. Rest and prepare for the summit push.

DAY 6: Summit Night – Uhuru Peak

Begin the final ascent to the summit well before dawn. Trek through steep scree and glaciers, reaching Uhuru Peak at sunrise, an extraordinary moment. Descend to Barafu Camp for a well-deserved rest.

DAY 7: Barafu Camp to Mweka Camp

Descend through the moorland zone, returning to the lush rainforest. Reach Mweka Camp, your last campsite on the mountain, and celebrate your successful summit.

DAY 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

Descend further through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificates. Bid farewell to Kilimanjaro and return to Moshi, where you can reflect on your remarkable journey and celebrate your achievement.
